Bike for the Woods Sets Another Record

Despite the heat, the Stow Conservation Trust set another record in funds raised through the annual Bike for the Woods. The event, held on the morning of Sunday, August 10, included 130 riders and raised over $3,500 for the preservation of farms and forests in Stow. The Bike for the Woods volunteer committee wishes to thank all the sponsors who donated food, time, and supplies: Aubuchon Hardware, Bagels Plus, Bolton Bean, Carver Hill Orchard, DDK Coffee, Nashoba Valley Pedalers, Pedal Power Bike & Ski, Shaw’s, and Trader Joe’s.

The event attracted cyclists from the local Massachusetts area and beyond. This year’s total funds raised surpassed last year’s total by over 25%. Riders were very pleased with the organization of the event, praising the volunteers and event coordinator, Jim Salvie. “We have a great team of volunteers planning and putting together the event. Raising this money for the Stow Conservation Trust while enjoying the beautiful rural countryside makes for a wonderful day,” commented Jim. Janet Moffat, Vice President of the Stow Conservation Trust, added, “It was great to see so many kids riding this year riding with parents. What a terrific way to spend family time.”
